So, as re-posted from my Facebook, here is the fundraiser I have chosen and the reason I feel strongly about it. Please read and if you'd like to pledge the link is below!

Short story: I'm raising money to support cancer research while hiking in support of a very close friend who's battling cancer. 100% of all donations go directly to Cancer Research Institute! I'm privately funding the cost of the hike and every penny donated will go directly to CRI. Read on for the full post, thanks!
Long story: In April I will start my hike of the PCT and I was looking for a charitable cause to donate to during my hike through per-mile sponsorship, but I couldn’t pick which cause to donate to because I didn’t have a personal connection to any. Now I do. A close friend of mine has now been diagnosed with cancer for the second time and I want to try and use my hike to make a donation to the Cancer Research Institute. It’s been a pretty emotional few months but I’m very optimistic and hoping to use this as a show of solidarity, support and motivation for him, and for me. This is in no way a fundraiser FOR my friend, but he is my motivation to pick this cause.
It would mean a lot to me if you would check this out and donate if you see fit. I’ll be hiking 2,665 miles from Mexico to Canada starting April 15th. It will take almost 6 months to complete. There’s always a chance injury, illness or other outside reasons will take me from the trail but if it is a matter of perseverance and will power I will complete the hike. Assuming I hike the entire trail, your donated amount would be:
$0.01 per mile = $26.65
$0.02 per mile = $53.30
$0.05 per mile = $133.25
And so on..
Every donation will add up, no matter how small! If you’d like to make a flat donation not based on mileage please email me.
100% of everything donated will go directly to the Cancer Research Institute. All donations will be made at the completion of the hike in October. I’d like to respect my friend’s privacy so I won’t give additional details, thanks in advance for respecting this. Please email me if you have any questions on donating and if you could share this that would be amazing. :)

(By the way, "Mapsy" was a trail name given to me when I got lost while hiking in the French Alps [see previous blog post for all the embarrassing details]. It's a combination of Maps + Oopsy!)

My Hiking Partner
I lied. I do have a hiking partner. He's been to every country I've visited and across every state I've traveled to since I adopted him from a gift shop in Dublin in 2004. Little Oscar will be 11 when he starts the PCT, here are a few of his best shots! Recognize any of these locations?
